Open thread: Harbaugh’s out

You won’t have Jim Harbaugh to kick around any more. The Baalke/York regime has finally pushed the head coach and sideline Hulk out to the waiting arms of Michigan.

So, did Harbaugh have it coming? He made it well known that he wasn’t on the same page with Baalke and word was that he had lost at least some of the locker room- when that happens it’s only a matter of time before a firing.

On the other hand, dude won games. A lot. With a team that hadn’t seen the other side of .500 in more than half a decade. Did York/Baalke just tear down a good thing and doom the franchise for their own comfort/egos?

Oh well. Time to move on I guess.

Upon hearing this morning’s Murph and Mac Show interview with York, I thought, “thank god the Giants organization isn’t run / managed by the 49ers.

Not even three minutes into the KNBR interview and it’s already making me squeamish. I really don’t want to think that Baalke-York are so stupid/egotistical as to boot Harbaugh based on what we know;I almost hope there was something ugly behind the scenes or with the players that’s not being revealed.

      from http://www.ninersnation.com/2014/12/30/7468557/jed-york-jim-harbaugh-confidentiality-agreement-49ers

” … ‘And the mutual parting on both sides was asked to be confidential.” Jed York has said the discussions were private and he would not share them.’

“Given the high profile nature of this situation, I find it hard to believe they just verbally agreed to not talk about it, and that was that. It is certainly possible that is the case, but given how stiffly York and Baalke have stuck to these very specific talking points, I am inclined to believe there was something more formal. The 49ers let Harbaugh out of his contract, and all reports since indicate they were not going to require any sort of compensation, even if he were to go to another NFL team.”

      As David Fucillo concluded,

“We will probably never get a formal confirmation of a confidentiality agreement, but I think that is the case.”

What I found to be especially dispiriting was the almost season long leaking of inside discord and dissension with Harbaugh. There may be (is most likely) a formal confidentiality agreement between the 49ers and Harbaugh, and yet for most of the season, leaks came out questioning Jim’s good standing – or whatever – as the manager. This kind of daily leaking crap – that York and Baalke seemed to have no interest in stopping / handling through more ‘formal’ confidentiality channels has a way of not only sapping the coach and players, but fans as well. This is what I will remember most of all about the 49er’s 2014 season. The head office should be ashamed of itself. Harbaugh is doubtless going to be better off, having gotten from out of such hack higher up operatives.

I heard that Rex Ryan will be in town to interview for the right to wear Harbaugh’s old headset. Kap would hate him, don’t you think?
