Lester could have been great in the Giants rotation or he could’ve turned into a long-term liability. I’m sort of glad we’ll never know. Personally, I think he didn’t like the idea of being the number 3.

Romo presents a different sort of soap opera. Like Pablo, the Giants know him well–down to the blisters and calluses on his pitching hand. He’s the guy who got into the dustup with Shawn Dunston, reported by Baggarly last September. On the other hand, it’s hard to imagine any other home town where his “I’m Not Illegal” t-shirt would’ve been enjoyed as much as it was here. I haven’t heard it in a while (may not be on anymore) but his radio spot on KNBR was always the best thing those morning guys offered. Any rumors on the deal terms he’s looking at? Hard to imagine more than a three-year deal (like Affeldt). $10M per?

In the end, it was about money. Lots of it, no matter how you spin it. Reggie White used the Lord as his explanation. Lester had “considerations”. These guys need to take a Marketing 101 course or something.

I am happy that he did not sign with the Giants. That is too much money on the table.

I read that Doug Fister is available next season. Local boy. Fantastic pitcher. We can hold out, can’t we?

Romo, come back. But if you go to BoSox because of Panda, remember that you’re a California boy.

Word is there’s a third team involved in the Gordon/Haren deal. I don’t know enough about Miami’s farm system to know if any of those guys are good. By the way, the combined age of the left side of LA’s infield is 71 years. That could be a problem.

Also, hi everyone. I got Tommy to write another post.
