Injury bug bites

Well, these last two weeks have sucked in most regards, but particularly when it come to injuries.
First Vogelsong decides to hit one off the knuckles (not related to the lip of the bat) and jack up his hand. Granted, he hasn’t been great this year but I like Vogey’s chances to turn it around more than the chances Shane Loux suddenly becomes competent.
Then, because some asshole somewhere just had to say “at least it couldn’t get any worse”, over in Ninerland Michael Crabtree steps up his preseason game and manages to tear his Achilles, assuring he won’t have to worry about the first three quarters of the season.
I guess we won’t have to worry about the young wideouts not getting any time: with Manningham and Williams recovering from knee injuries of their own, Quinton Patton and AJ Jenkins will probably get most of the reps until at least Labor Day.
Let’s hope that, in both cases, someone steps up. Otherwise it could be a pretty dismal few months for the local teams.

So nice throw by Blanco to throw out nemesis Todd Helton. I so dislike that guy and his ‘stache.

If we could score some fucking runs…

Lincecum hasn’t been terrible, but, I agree, zero runs won’t get anything done.
As to Blanco’s fine throw, it would’ve been a footnote if Helton hadn’t botched his pop-up slide. He popped up with his toe a few inches from the bag–in time for the tag. So Blanco nailed him. Nice indeed.

Timmy is a better Timmy this year than last year. However, it’s still not a very solid Timmy. Sadness.

    I need a beer.

  6. JDR says:

Dammit. Horrible decision on the bunt, then Belt gets shafted on the strike call.

    …too early to start drinking?

  7. Chico says:

Fuck you blue, Belt was safe by a lot.

  8. Chico says:

Another blown call. Fuck this guy.

  9. xoot says:

I agree. But wtf was Scutaro running to 3B anyway? Better throw would’ve nailed him.

  10. Chico says:

    Wow! Cheers!!

Safe to say they REALLY needed something like that. Pitchers starting to turn the corner, time to make a run in June and get a lead before the ASB. Still think the Dodgers will get hot, possibly after dumping Donny Two-trips.

      • Chico says:

Too much talent not to. IMO, it’s us and the D Backs at the end. Too early to say, but that’s how I felt before the season started. Dodgers have to have a hot streak in them, too much talent. Excuse the writing style- freaking cell phones.

        • Chico says:

Brisket! Sounds good. Answer your phone later!

          • sandy32koufax says:

Pulled brisket, twice baked chicken, salad central n all of the other yum that goes with Memorial Day festing (is that a word? who cares), not to mention all of the fine liquid accoutrements “on tap” for said Holiday 🙂

Los Angeles won and Kersh wasn’t pitching? OMG

  12. xoot says:

Wow. The Giants never quit, do they? Quite a week, so far.

    • Chico says:

A win tomorrow would be great. Then it’s war time on the other blog! ‘A rumble isn’t a rumble without me’ – the outsiders.

      • sandy32koufax says:

And all this time I just had you figured for a politics/sports/booze fanatic?

Who knew “The Outsiders” had the legs to reach Gen-Y?

  13. JDR says:

New post up. Tommy has some ideas on fixing things in LA.
