Hot Stove for the Week of 1/21 to 2/4

I’m going to consolidate two week’s worth of news in this one post so that someone can create a nice 49ers one and post it above this one. Ya git mah drift?

10:07 a.m.
Joaquin Arias agrees to a 1 yr./$925k deal with the team.

10:09 a.m.
— The Dbags trade Justin Upton to the Braves. Jon Heyman of claims that the Nats and Braves are the best team in baseball. Keep up the good work, tool.

7:50 p.m.
— Our friend Scott Hairston has signed with the Cubbies.
1:50 p.m.
— Phillies have inserted a weight clause into Delmon Young‘s contract.
— Braves are interested in Justin Upton.

2:04 p.m.
Jason Motte, Cardinals agree on 2-year deal.
12:03 p.m.
Delmon Young signs a 1-yr./$750k contract with the Phillies. I assume this is a throwing arm discount.
Mark DaRosa signs with the BlewJays.
Armando Galarraga signs a minor league deal with the Cincinnati Reds.
10:27 a.m.
Sandy Koufax will become special advisor to the Dodgers.
— Will Donnie ball come to an end? Don Mattingly‘s request for a contract extension with the Codgers was denied.
— Dodgers, Time Warner have a deal. It’s only Hot Stove worthy because of the $$$$ to exceed the luxury tax. As someone pointed out, the Dodger payroll for 2018 is already at $88m.

12:31 p.m.
— The Indians sign Ben Francisco and Ryan Rayburn to a minor league contracts.
10:59 a.m.
— The Mets sign Pedro Feliciano to a minor league deal. Oh boy!

The only thing I love more than seeing the Stankees lose is seeing the Patties lose.

    Good for DeRosa…sorta anyway.

50/50 news on LA tho. Having Koufax in any capacity (whatever it is a “Special Advisor” does) CAN’T be a bad thing. Dodger bux and payroll isn’t either, as long as MLB and the other owners are good with them. Losing Donnie Baseball OTOH…

I wouldn’t say they have had distinguished MLB careers but they have put forth a slew of family members that played MLB ball-The Hairstons.

Jerry, Jerry, Sam, John and Scott.

Talk about the apple not falling far from the tree…

    An aria for Arias?

A cool million, or nearly so, is some good bux for a ute man
