  1. xoot says:

Ah ha! I see MOW scooped me on commenting about post season shares. As she says, the Giants players get more than $377K each. The AAA’s players, slightly more than $34K. I have nothing but grudging, pragmatic interest in salary information; but even I have to admint there’s a certain poetry in the difference between those two numbers. See:

  2. datswhatsup says:

Not a huge Swisher fan, but wouldn’t mind him in LF if Bourne is in CF. If you are going to overpay for a player I prefer Bourne to Pagan in that Bourne is a proven leadoff hitter.

This is Pagan’s chance to cash in (great for him!) but I wouldn’t overpay.

  3. unca_chuck says:

You’ll have to overpay for either one. I’d rather overpay Pagan.

  4. dirtnrocksnomo says:

I think it will be either Swisher or Pagan. Not both. Blanco filling it at either LF or CF depending on the decision. Brown as the 4th OF?

  5. Chico says:

No chance we get Bourne and Pagan and Swisher.. We’re probably going to get only one of them, and I’d rather have Pagan..

  6. Chico says:

I ran into ‘Wolf Larsen’ over on the Huffington post.. Plan on giving him the URL to this lace once he gets back to me.. Fuck the Splash.

  7. datswhatsup says:

Why no interest here in Bourne? He strikes out a lot but a good defender, experienced lead off and has speed for this park.

Pagan was great, but if you have to pay a lot why not go with the better track record?.

Looked at Swisher’s stats, thought they were padded at Yankee stadium but his road numbers are good too.

Pagan/Bourne and Swisher possible? They can load Posey’s deal and wait for Zito and Lincecum and they’re $38m to drop off of drop down.

  8. unca_chuck says:

Lindsey Lohan is rich. Doesn’t make her smart.

When the Dogs pay Grienke 7/$175 mill, then we’ll talk. They’ll have 8 starting pitchers. Whoooopeeee. They can make it rain however much they want, but based on what I’ve seen so far they don’t have a fucking clue how to build a team.

  9. unca_chuck says:

Bourn already looks like he’s on his downhill sllide. He has absolutely NO power, and isn’t a very good base stealer. Pagan doesn’t seem to have as many miles on him. He’s about equal defensively, and has more power. Swisher? Too old. I’ve never really liked his game anyway. He’s looking at a serious drop off this year wherever he goes. If yer gonna pay one of them, I’d go with Pagan. I don’t want to give any of them 5 years, but all these guys are going to want at least 4 years and an option . . .

After seeing Affeldt get 3/18 mill though, you never know.

  10. Chico says:

Kendall Hunter out for the year.. Now that hurts.

    • sandy32koufax says:

Like there aren’t a bunch of alternatives to pick up the slack…the Rams or Ray-Duhs should have such problems!

      • shaman138 says:

Even the Rams are turning the ship around…meanwhile, the Raiders still have Rolando McCancer and Greg Knapptime ,among others, to continue to run this team into the ground.

        • sandy32koufax says:

The Rams have been “turning the ship” for too many years, according to every head coach and I still don’t see it. Ray-Duhs and Rams got jobbed by the refs last weekend though…

          • shaman138 says:

Neither would have won regardless but the offciating was bad all around this past weekend.. Even the 9ers got screwed on some bad calls. Damnit, I loved the replacement refs–especially when the Cheeseheads, who have screwed over so many visiting teams in Lambeau with bullshit calls, got screwed over big time in Seattle. That’s really the only reason why the Squawks stayed in the hunt for the NFC West as long as they did…which wasn’t long.

    • shaman138 says:

And that puts even more pressure on Kap to go from bench-warmer to Steve Young in just a few short weeks. I understand what Harbaugh is doing but sooner or later I think this move is going to blow up in their faces.

        • shaman138 says:

Im thinking the same thing every time I hear a Niner fan say this kid straight out of Reno College is going to lead them to a Super Bowl trophy.

          • Chico says:

I came across that on another site and I had to play it shaman!.. UNR has a good football program (considering trying to recruit guys to play up there), led by one of the best college FB coaches out there, imo.. I think Kaep has a very bright future ahead of him in the NFL.. As for the Super Bowl, way too premature for me to even go there. As they say, one week at a time 😉

            • shaman138 says:

Well, Harbaugh seems to think this kid’s future is now. I can’t say I agree even though the dude is clearly SF’s next franchise QB. There’s no way to know but they seem to want the extra dynamic from him in the playoffs, which may pay off in spades and they crush the Patriots/Texans/Ravens in the Superdome, or he could throw 5 INTs in Atlanta and they get spanked in the Georgiadome. Who knows? I just think it’s too soon to rush him in there with such wildly high expectations (especially with Hunter now gone) but there’s always a spot for Alex across the bay. 😉

              • shaman138 says:

To add on, IMO Alex is exactly the type of QB the Raiders need. . In other words, I still think Carson Palmer is an idiot.

  11. datswhatsup says:

From MLB.com on Bourn: “Since hitting .229 in 2008, Bourn has batted .288 in four Major League seasons. He has led the National League in steals three times, is a two-time Gold Glove winner and a two-time All-Star.”

ATL asking about Dexter Fowler, might be win win Fowler out of the NL West and Bourn with one less suitor.

Don’t get me wrong about Pagan I’m not a hater, it’s just I fear an Andres Torres situation since both lacked a track record before having a huge year. Depending on money of course, but Swisher & Bourne are safer bets.

    Swisher is 32, Pagan 31 & Bourn 30.

    • Chico says:

If we agreed with each other on everything, we’d be sheep! Valid point & opinion, dats..

Your two buck chuck analogy the other day has some of my personal friends cracking up at happy hour. Even the A’s fan laughed.

      • datswhatsup says:

        Thx Chico
Love poking fun at the bitter haters over there.
Like to think I’d be more sfdodgerfan than mossy if the tables were.turned.

        • sandy32koufax says:

Laughter IS the best medicine. I’d hate to bitter about this revoltin turn of events the past three years. I been there, done that in the 80’s w/the 9ers…

Now I need the Bruins to step and play their best game against the #2 defense in the country or UCLA is going to an also-ran bowl game. That is home turf. BTW, I HATE those dark blues unis of theirs. “True Blue” or white, damnit!

          • Chico says:

I’m going for the baby bears aka Ruins, too.

          • datswhatsup says:

Mora is a god here now, his “I don’t give a rat’s ass about USC” comment on Dan Patrick was music to the ears of UCLA fans sooooo glad to be done with Rick N. at the helm.

            • sandy32koufax says:

UCLA may have plenty of it’s own issues re their “problem players” but U$C, since well before “Boyz n the Hood” was even conceived the coaches, alumni assoc, administration and players condoned bad behaviors that have and will continue to bite them in their collective asses.

Good for Mora speaking out the way he did. As to Neuheisel, I wish him all the best and had really pulled for him to be as good a coach as he was a Bruin. Too bad he didn’t have the athletic dept’s backing.

  12. unca_chuck says:

For whatever reason, Bourn led the league in caught stealings . . .

I don’t know. He’s just another guy whose game I don’t really like. Pagan can be scary in the OF sometimes, but he brings more power, and I’d rather have that than another base-hit kind of guy.

Pagan’s 2010 was great (11hrs, 69 ribbies), and 2011 he missed some games, but he’s a solid hitter with some power and speed. Last year? 8 hrs, 59 ribbies, led the league in triples (15), and 29 steals.

    Of the 3 I think he’s better.

  13. unca_chuck says:

I meant to say in 2010, Pagan also batted .290 and has 37 steals.

  14. sandy32koufax says:

    Back to Baseball.

Wright signing means NYM needs to come up large with a team that wins, it being NY city and all. Dickey will get a big contract too. So many other holes there they need to fill-trade central coming up-blockbuster trade(s) I think.

I just hope LA doesn’t send any of that core group which can make them into instant winners…although getting Martin back would be sweet.

  15. Chico says:

Carlos Ruiz getting busted the go-fast in his system. Say it ain’t so!

  16. sandy32koufax says:

    What becomes of Sanchez then?

  17. sandy32koufax says:

    Po Dee…
