  1. Chico says:

Holy shit.. I figured it out! I took these photos at the civic center.. If I knew I could create a slideshow, I would have included all of the pictures I took. Nice ring on me, huh?

I know nothing about computer technology or the inner workings of blogs. This was purely experimental. Now that I know what I did (I think), I’ll create a slide show of all the photos I took tomorrow.

What I’m really interested in is how I upload a photo and post in IN a blog that is already in progress, without creating a whole new blog post.

  2. xoot says:

Great slide show, Chico. Helluva seat, too. I watched the ceremony on line and that was ok. But these up-close photos are terrific.

  3. shaman138 says:

This comment is a prime example of why sfgate in general, and the Crash in particular, is completely fucked. That site is a haven for full-blown sociopaths…

Wow. Thought he was going to come out. Tired of this racial bs, all pushed by the Zionists. Divide and Conquer based on race. Nothing has changed with the Talmud Bavil – Babylonian Talmud. Go figure Zionists own sport leagues, and all entertainment for the dumb masses. Hey Romo, shave your beard, you look like a terrorist.

    • Chico says:

I didn’t see that comment… But the time stamp Name withheld 10:28 AM on November 2, 2012
This comment was left by a user who has been blocked by our staff.

Fucking disgusting pricks.. The Huffington post, which has 100 times more commenters manages to weed out the crazies – and if you properly flag a comment that is over the line, you’re rewarded! If you flag a comment that is perfectly fine, you get dinged.. They have a great system, imo. Of course you wouldn’t go there for sports, but for politics that’s where I go.

Get the new SI issue.. 8 bucks, but it’s all Giants from front to back.. They did an awesome job.

  4. shaman138 says:

Yeah, that was the guy–he got zapped fast. What a fucking lunatic–but that’s the whole idea–VK and his green and gold minions get a blog post up on the Splash the day of the victory parade to smear as much shit into the face of the Giants as possible while generating extra clicks for their advertiser masters at the same time. Idiotic.

I’ll be sure to check out Huffington Post as well as the SI issue–I’ve long since given up on the gate’s politcal pages and even the local progessive forums have been compromised by shills and wingnut trolls.

  5. xoot says:

After the Giants improved their roster in 2010, I stopped paying much attention to mlbtraderumors.com. I would check in occasionally, but not every day. Too much bs overwhelmed the actual facts. Today, however, without baseball at all, I took a long look at the latest on that site, and learned that the Rockies not only have interviewed Ron Wotus for their open managerial spot; they’ve also interviewed Matt Williams and Jason Giambi. Now which of those three doesn’t belong in the group? wtf are the Rockies thinking? No wonder Jim Tracy wanted out. I wouldn’t be surprised to see both Wotus and Williams take a pass, too.

    • shaman138 says:

And this is the same team that has a moronic 70 pitch limit for their starters. Looks like the Giants will have to worry a lot more about the Poodres than the Crockies for a while.

      • Chico says:

Jason Giambi? lol.. I hope Wotus walks away from the offer too. If he’s going to leave us, I think we all hope that he leaves us for a good job. . The Rockies? No.

      • xoot says:

Speaking of immature ex AAA’s roiders — Bartolo Colon, te gusta Oakland?

  6. mailorderwife says:

    Wow…great photos, Chico!

Just got back from a week in SF. It was AMAZING watching the WS win up there instead of in this cowtown down in So Cal. We decided upon Pete’s Tavern, which was a good thing since we snagged the last table there at like 1:00. Rich Aurilia showed up later to watch the game. What a great experience it was to celebrate with so many people, but we hightailed it out after the crowds on King began to look stupid drunk.

The parade was also a hoot, although I had nowhere near as good a viewing point as Chico.

The only other cool thing was having some guy dressed up as a chimpanzee with a tambourine wait in line behind me at the Giants Dugout store.

I miss San Francisco and think that it’s time we came home.

All in all, the Giants did what they did by playing baseball. Not AL style homerun derby, but real baseball. And maybe…just maybe…people will look at the NL West more. I know that Verlander is great, but Kershaw is no cakewalk. And Prince Fielder is no Matt Kemp, and wishes he was more clutch like Chase Headley. Can’t wait for the Astros to hit the AL next year.

    • sandy32koufax says:

You never wrote. You never called. What am I, chopped liver?

    • mailorderwife says:

As soon as we got to SF, my mother made it clear that we were there to visit her. There was so much chaos with ballgames and seeing childhood friends so I apologize. Sam says that we will go to SF more so I expect to see you soon.

  7. mailorderwife says:

    Also, for your enjoyment:

  8. mailorderwife says:

    Memories...

  9. xoot says:

Both Chico and Shaman are included in Katie Dowd’s compilation of Giaints fans’ reactions, in the paper today. Congrats!

  10. shaman138 says:

Wow, the Bengals had a shot against Denver but they just pissed that game away. Fuck Peyton Manning–of all of the teams he could have gone to….

God, I hate the fucking Broncos.

    • sandy32koufax says:

Denver is 100% better with Manning. Why didn’t WE get him is my bitch!

      • sandy32koufax says:

BTW shaman, maybe my best memory as a Ray-Duhs fan was before the move south. A game against the Charley Johnson led Broncos at the Coliseum one fan nearby had the gall to wear those pansy colors they used to sport. He was escorted out under protective custody by several of OPDs’ finest. Hot because we were doing anything but rather due to his being a nuisance.

        Eff Denver forever.

  11. shaman138 says:

God dammit, Vincent Jackson is a fucking Raider killer.

Aaaand Tommy Kelly just went down. I have a bad feeling about this game.

  12. Chico says:

I’m at a badly party. What are you guys talking about?? Katie does published something?? If you can post a link that would be great. I’m busy and can’t seem to find the article on the gate.

  13. shaman138 says:

    Falcons are blowing it

  14. shaman138 says:

Carson Palmer is officially still an idiot

  15. unca_chuck says:

Yeah, I caught the tail end of the Raydurrs ‘comeback.’ They get to 35-32, get the ball, and Palmer throws a wounded quail in the general vicinity of 3 Bucs and no Raydurrs. Ray guy’s punts had less hang time than that throw. All they had to do was win to be one back of the vile Broncos. 300 yards given up on the ground? Wow. The AFC West is a crap-shoot. Emphasis on the CRAP. SD is Jeckyl and Hyding their way to .500. Denver isn’t all that good, but they are managing to skate through some awful looking games. The playoffs is a whole different deal, but with a better team (Indy) Manning wasn’t all that spectacular. Denver has a farily solid D at times.

  16. sandy32koufax says:

FRACK! I have this cool pic of Romney, wearing a doggie cone that sez “Dogs against Romney” It also sez “Pee here” and has an arrow to his head inside the cone…Loved it

  17. mailorderwife says:

So now that baseball season is fin, I would like to know why A’s fans hate the Giants so much? I have never hated the A’s. Their fans should be proud of all those great A’s teams, and yet all they can do is do the half-empty glass stuff and whine about the Giants. It’s not as if they have the Cleveland Indians history of a losing franchise coupled with a generally stupid place to live where the lake catches on fire.

    • Chico says:

I don’t have any animosity towards the A’s either, but some of them (posters) have a lot towards the Giants. Of all the baseball sites I visit, the only site where I see that kind of crap is on sfgate. They should build a nice ballpark right on the water, in Oakland, and some of their fans should quit obsessing over the Giants. Of course, 2 World Series wins in three years stirs the stuff up, but somebody had to entertain the elephant ๐Ÿ˜‰

  18. shaman138 says:

A’s fans have become jealous haters–I like the A’s and actually go to A’s games sometimes. Obviously, it’s not the same as going to a Giants game, but it’s still fun because that’s where you’ll find the REAL A’s fans, the ones who actually care about their team. That being said, they didn’t used to be haters until 2010. Whatever, they’re just jealous little kids throwing tantrums–Mossface being the most egregious example.

Also, today is a beautiful day to not be a Philly fan. Watching the Eagles last night made me feel a little better about being a Raiders fan.

    • xoot says:

Mosshead is back on sfgate with a name that looks a lot like shAme. Suitable association. He is lobbying the moderators like mad to get comments deleted and someone is listening to him. (They deleted a post of mine that included the construction “shAme.” Maybe it’ll become yet one more sfgate banned word.) That sluts/mac/losingstreak guy is another craven dumbeat regular with a horrible case of jealousy and low self-esteem.

Ah, how nice it is to leave those petty fools behind and to reflect instead on the World Champions.

      • shaman138 says:

Just went through that whole thread–I like how the self-proclaimed scourge of the trolls, VK, jumps right into the middle of it with his own shit-distrubing comment slamming Sabean and Panda. Jealous morons…and you know if the Giants did re-sign Melky that would get thrown front and center on the home page to bring out all of the trolls and haters to the Splash. Pathetic.

        • xoot says:

Yep. And the best stuff was deleted. Sandy and I had a somewhat amusing reply thread going at one point (more than somewhat amusing, by dumbeat standards). Zapped. On the other hand, when she got challenged on the HOF/roid issue, Slusser responded directly. She’s not part of the problem on sfgate; she just works there.

  19. sandy32koufax says:

I trust you ALL voted by now…I struck mine two Sundays ago at SF city hall…”Brobama” being the only choice I will shAre

  20. xoot says:

I’m getting pissed off at the voting results. Warren elected in Mass. Ok. That’s one for the good guys. But none of these fights should even be close.

    • Chico says:

Agreed.. Elizabeth Warren is a consumer advocate and wants to take on the banks! She’s the only one besides Bernie Sanders who are still talking about too big to fail..

If Obama takes Florida (not expected) – it’s ovah.

  21. shaman138 says:

It’s looking like Florida is neck-and-neck and could quite possibly decide this race that shouldn’t even be this close.

    http://www.google.com/elections/ed/us/results

    Be afraid. Be very afraid.

    http://www.sfbg.com/bruce/2012/11/06/miami-first-amendment-attorney-election-suppression-unbelievably-awful

    • Chico says:

Why did I get an email that this comment had to be approved? I approved the comment btw. It didn’t violate JDR’s terms and conditions as far as I know… Maybe it’s the link?

Shaman, there aren’t enough votes left out there for Romney to win Florida according to the talking heads.

      • shaman138 says:

Yeah, I saw that “this comment is awaiting approval” when I posted it. I guess it was the link…I know 92% of the precincts in FL have reported but it’s less than 20,000 votes between the two…. I’ll take the talking heads word for it, though. Still, this one is too close for comfort.

  22. shaman138 says:

NBC is projecting Obama to win. No suprise, really–the fact that it was this close is VERY surprising, though.

    • Chico says:

I thought it was going to be closer. . . Cheers Shaman!

      • shaman138 says:

Cheers! Phew…not a big Obama fan at all but the thought of President Romney…I was a little nervous there for a minute. ๐Ÿ˜‰

And for some extra laughs go check out “Buster202” over on sfgate. Hilarious.

    • xoot says:

Obama’s far from perfect. Even so — the rich won’t get to appoint supreme court justices for the next four years (and that’ll be important), and the rich won’t get to start unnecessary wars, and the rest of us will have some (albeit small, some) say in the way this country moves. So I’m not so pissed off now. So let’s see how the Calif. props go.

  23. shaman138 says:

So far, the CA props aren’t doing so well. Prop 30 is very close and may win but 37 is unbelievably going down in flames and we’ll still have the pointless and stupid death penalty after tonight. Meanwhile, Washington State just legalized weed after CA said no two years ago. I’ve been everywhere in California and I know how conservative this state really is but this is some reactionary bullshit, IMO. These people didn’t bother to research these initiatives and just voted from what they saw on TV.

  24. sandy32koufax says:

    Just got in Dowders.

    sfdf is justa smidge drunky.

Spent the night eating and drinking at a local pub while watching the returns.

Yes, it was like a scary movie. I cried I laughed, I felt the earth rising up to hit me in the face.

Then the west coast polls closed and all was right in the world for me.

God Bless Americans and God Bless The Untied States!

    • shaman138 says:

      I guess…

Hoepfully, Barack will take the gloves off and start working for the change he originally promised us, but I’m skeptical. Meanwhile, the state props could have gone worse, but they could have gone a LOT better. I’m stunned that 37 went down and it just shows once again how conservative California really is in a lot of ways.

And, here in SF, things mostly went well, but….London Breed as the District 5 Supervisor?? Excuse me while I go barf in my mouth…

  25. mailorderwife says:

Spent much of the night on Twitter trying to calm down some young voters over the EC count. They were convinced that Mitt was going to win, and I had to remind them that west coast results would change the margins. They are now convinced that the west coast is the best coast. ::bowing::

I’m thrilled that Warren was voted in. Also happy that Sanders kept his position, and with the fact that NH has now an all-female crew (gov/house/senate) working the state. Not happy that Bachmann won but it was by the thinnest of margins. Also, the titah on Hawaii who won has done us proud.

Most of all, I am proud that Ventura County went BLUE. This was heavily RED until a few years ago, when the influx of LA folk began to move into various parts of the county. The Simi/Thousand Jokes/my neighbors votes are being drowned out by a more progressive and heavily Hispanic voting population.

Finally, had to talk to some friend who decided to message me with his ideas that this was now the USSA – The United States of Socialist America. These people usually begin to calm down when told that the great socialist Gen. Douglas MacArthur brought universal healthcare to Japan. People should really just watch more baseball.

    • shaman138 says:

Good Lord, the wingnuts aren’t very bright, are they? What kills me is they just parrot the same tired talking points and one-liners and throw jabs at the “loony left”, but other than that they have nothing substantial to say. And Ventura County leans to the left now?? Holy guacamole!

      • mailorderwife says:

I found this on my FB this morning. The xxx represent a name that I want to keep anon:

XXXX – Before planned parenthood came along we were just fine with out them. Now that there here they cause a lot of problems and they cause more debt. What planned Parenthood did was wrong. Who cares if Mitt is a Mormon he has better morals then Obama we just re-elected a half Muslim/ black come on he doesn’t care about the black or the white people.

XXXXXXX – Half Muslim?? Loool smh. How can someone be half Muslim?? Muslim isn’t a race it’s a religion !

XXXX – His dad is Muslim and his mom is black do your research. Yea he is not a believer in Jesus Christ. He is called a fake and everyone fell for it.

        • xoot says:

“his mom is black”? yikes. Not a well-informed voter.

          • Chico says:

As you know MOW, I just created my FB account and after reading those posts, I’m going to be very careful who I friend.. The only wingnut I have is as a friend on there is Tom – who likes to make gay jokes and thinks he’s funny, when he’s really not. Good dude, just misguided..

I took my kids to the park this morning and ran into an old friend from high school.. She had to de-friend 5 people last night because of the crap they were spewing (kenya, socialist, marxist, bla bla bla)… Speaking of facebook, happy belated birthday Xoot!

            • mailorderwife says:

              Happy belated birthday, Xoot!!!!

I haven’t defriended anyone, but I have threatened too if people keep associating liberals = Satanists. Other than that, I find their opinions quite fascinating. It keeps me abreast as to the nature of fundamental evangelical Christianity and their marriage to money and big business. It has a captive audience in a few of my friends, who continually spout the bs. Good people, but really really tragic in how they are so gullible.

  26. Chico says:

I wonder why 37 went down? Was it the way it was worded?

    Prop 30 – I’m happy.

The death penalty thing – not happy with it going down.. I could be wrong, but me thinks that we could have saved a lot of money if it passed.

Democrats took control of a lot of state legislatures… Wow, surprising night.

This was a clear message to the tea party, imo. I think they’re almost finished.

  27. unca_chuck says:

Well, the problem with the Republicans is they seem to be plugged directly into Rupert Murdoch’s brain pan,and Fox’s wheel of spinning crap. It’s all about screaming the loudest and stamping one’s feet the hardest to get noticed. Political discourse is calling Obama a socialist, and moving south from there. The tea party was a nice little groundswell of semi-misinformed people who had some good ideas about gov’t spending, but it was taken over by Fox News and given the full dog-and-pony show. In the end, it cost them seats yesterday. Their gains of a couple years ago were lost. Although I can’t figure out how Michelle Bachmann managed to win . . .

It would be very easy for the republicans to get a shitload of support. All they would have to do is go easy on immigration. There are enough Latinos who identify with their religious views and are fiscally conservative. As the repubs just discovered, they can’t survive being the party of strictly white America. Rmoney’s numbers were higher across the board with white voters than Bush’s in 2004. Not by a lot, but the stronger Latino vote got Obama back in.

    • Chico says:

Those Grover Norquist pledges are going to come back to bite them in the ass…

Boehner is now saying that he’s open to talk to the president about taxes.. America sent a clear message last night. He’ll have to go against the tea party to do it, but he’s going to have to do it. Polling on the Bush tax cuts are in the dems favor, big time.

    • JDR says:

I heard that Bachmann outspent her opponent by something like 12 to 1. If the tea party crashes and burns in the mid-terms you can bet she’ll have a huge target on her back next time around.

  28. unca_chuck says:

Yeah, Chico, the problem with 37 was the way it was worded. At least that’s what I heard talking to people about it It would supposedly open the door for a ton of lawsuits regarding people getting sick from altered food or some shit. Food prices skyrocket, blah blah blah. Who knows. I voted for it, but didn’t think it would go. The one I was disapoppointed about was 34. There have been what 13 executions since it was reinstated in 1977? That’s a slow day in Texas.

It’s obviously filled with too many outs for this to go on the current way. Oh well. Glad 30 passed though.

    • mailorderwife says:

The loss of 34 did disappoint. I am hugely against the death penalty. However, people seem to think that killing folks is an easier out. I sort of like how Norway dealt with its one mass murderer, ya know?

      • unca_chuck says:

21 years for 68 children being murdered ? Sorry, that doesn’t cut it in my book.

      • xoot says:

I did some editorial work for a professor who pretty much has dedicated his career to fighting the death penalty. I learned a lot about its history. I also learned that because everyone sentenced to death gets an automatic right to appeal directly to the California Supreme Court, that court spends a huge amount of its time and resources dealing with death penalty cases. That’s an expense hard to quantify. One thing it means is that the court is not able to grant discretionary review of many other cases that deserve review and decision. Add on the inevitability of executing an innocent person, wrap it up in sheer barbarism and blood-lust, and finish it off with the fact that the US is the only industrialized Western nation to employ that punishment, and I don’t see how anyone can support it. But a majority of Americans do. 16 or 17 states don’t have it, however. Clearly it’s possible to run a criminal justice system without it.

  29. Chico says:

Los Angeles might have just lost their porn industry… Anyone read about that?

    • mailorderwife says:

::sigh:: Why doesn’t this surprise me? I’m afraid our republic won’t last. I just saw a FB friend signed up to attend the OBAMA MUST BE IMPEACHED FOR THE BENGHAZI 4 event.

  30. shaman138 says:

Meh. I’m ready to leave politics behind for awhile and get back to sports…especially football, where another exciting Sunday of Raiders football is in store………wait a minute…

    NNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

  31. Chico says:

Personally, it was a great end to a political season that I couldn’t wait to be over. A song from the old archive, that I listen to when it’s time to get pumped up. Giants win the World Series and Romney loses the election? Fantastic!

  32. unca_chuck says:

Well, Sham, the Raydurrs always seem to play to the level of their opponents, so this one’s in the bag vs the Ravens.

    • shaman138 says:

Well, anything’s possible against a weakened Baltimore team–they’re not the Vikings D, that’s for sure…

    • shaman138 says:

For some strange reason, I have a good feeling about this Ravens game. For the 9ers, this is a potential trap game but I don’t see that happening–they squash the Lambs 30-7. Also, chuck, I looked in on your blog this past weekend and it was a fucking war zone–hopefully you stomp that craziness out.

  33. shaman138 says:

One more political aside–if the Chronicle and their puppet-masters would fucking stop stirring the Mirkarimi pot maybe this city would be able to take care of it’s REAL problems. This whole circus has gone on for almost a year and the train-wreck looks to only continue, dragging this city’s already abyssmal political scene into new and unheard of depths. However you feel about Mirk (and I have mixed feelings), the Sherrifs’s job is a low-key admin. job at best and there’s no reason to continue a bullshit politcial circus over it while SF’s problems spiral out of control.

  34. mailorderwife says:

The SF Giants win the World Series, Obama wins, I am rid of the crazy person and his crazy mama from my life and Ventura County goes blue for the first time in 70 years. Is the world going to end this year or something?

  35. unca_chuck says:

Yeah, I deleted 2 entire threads, Sham. A new low in blogdom.

People are staying in line now . . . Ha ha. Yeah, I think the Niners should be able to beat StL pretty easily. I have 31-10. I’m REAL interested to see the Niners Bears game. I think the Bears are pretenders pretty much. Sure, they have a good D, but Cutler is an interception machine, and he’s ready to go off. The Bears play the Texans Sunday night. Should be a good game.

    • mailorderwife says:

Jay Cutlet was intercepted like 8 times the last time they met, no? And that is when the 49ers sucked.

      • unca_chuck says:

Yeah. The Niners won like 10-7 and Cutler threw 5 picks. He was awful. The Niners couldn’t score from anywhere on the field though. The dark days of Singletary and the Fred Flintstone offense.

        • Chico says:

Chuck’s blog is hilarious. The game threads are great but right after the game, win or lose, the fighting commences. It’s a virtual mosh pit at times. It cracks me up.

          • shaman138 says:

With Del Mar Dennis throwing his bullshit around like he does, it’s not surprising

            • mailorderwife says:

There is too much of the testosterone on that board, but I like reading it because of Chuck. It’s like that baseball blog I liked but was too male harmonic.

    • Chico says:

I really hope he works on his swing this offseason. If he can hit the low and outside sliders (like he’s shown he can in the past), we’re good.

  36. unca_chuck says:

Thanks folks. I never realized how big a pain in the ass running a blog was. It seems like whenever I step away, all hell breaks loose and everyone yells at me to delete other people or accuses me of deleting shit I never touched. It got so bad wit my old Blogspot blog (I couldn;t delete posts or ban obnoxious bloggers) that I had to kill it.

Like I said, that last coupe dayys were epically bad, and I had to delete 2 entire threads, and around 260 posts. Treading the line between alienating the people that post thoughfully and going along with the bullshit that others post is much harder than I thought. Mainly because some of the people that post on my blog I have ‘known’ (as bloggers) for 4+ years, and some don’t get whty I give them more rope than others. Yikes. It’s football, not whirled peas.

Can’t we all just get along? ๐Ÿ˜›

As far as Pence goes, I just hope Bam Bam can work on his eye. I never saw anyone feel like he can cover pitches 18″ off the plate outside. It’s amazing he ever sees a strike. Panda gets away with being a bad-ball hitter. Shit, he hit .330 his last fullyhealthy season. Pence doesn’t.

    • JDR says:

Yeah, I’m very thankful we’ve got a small group here that all get along and act like adults. It’s one of the reasons that I’m not trying to spread the blog much (that and I’m lazy and don’t want to post a new entry every day.)

  37. unca_chuck says:

If you do ever post over there, MOW, I got your back!

  38. Chico says:

Molly711 is “cleaning up the comments” = having them removed. Xoot, JDR, MOW. . . Ya’ll know what I mean.

10 mintes ago lasttraintoyuma’s comment about Molly being a troll was standing, since then, his post was removed and all comments that are replies to Molly’s posts have been removed and deemed as offensive. Every single one. Don’t even bother with that place anymore and if you do, just ignore the trolls.

    • filthychangeup says:

Just saw that I’ve been banned on Sfgate for reminding everyone what a hateful troll Molly is. I don’t know why I bother but I sent this email to VK:

      Hello Vlae,
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย I have emailed you in the past, my user name on sfgate.com is FilthyChangeup, before that I was Mattalac. I just found out that my account has been banned. I’m not sure for what, if you review my comments you’ll find I was merely responding to know trolls like Molly711, an individual who has had multiple accounts banned but keeps showing up. This Molly711 is quite obviously not a Giants fan and is only on the Splash/Sfgate to trash the team and their fans. I was under the impression that so long as I didn’t engage in personal attacks I wouldn’t be penalized for defending my team on the team’s blog. I merely re-posted a hateful comment that Molly had posted. I would appreciate if you would reinstate my account, I’ve done nothing wrong other than defend the team I passionately love against hateful, disruptive trolls.

      Thank you,
      Matthew aka FilthyChangeup

I’ll be interested to hear how VK responds to you FC. I’ve found him to be a petty tyrant. Meanwhile Slusser is openly complaining about how much she dislikes the “extra’ work of blogging on sfgate. Henry S doesn’t even acknowledge posts on the splash. I think the blogs are dirty work for the writers, but essential for VK to meet his traffic quotas. The result is a mess full of trolls.

  39. mailorderwife says:

Yes!!! Don’t bother with that place! I’ll even post baseball Hot Stove news here if that’ll make you all stay.

Has anyone been watching the free spending Dodgers? They’re going to outspend the Yankees by the time MLB 2013 Opening Day starts.

    • sandy32koufax says:

      Good on the Dodgers!!! ;

Hey, I followed Shea’s twitter feed to a place I didn’t know about and it’s pretty cool. Here’s the link: http://sulia.com/channel/all-sports/

In my own defense, I have ALWAYS been drawn to neon…;)

      • Chico says:

Let them sign Kuroda. A 37 year old pitcher? Right up the Dodger’s alley.

        • Chico says:

And you’re on MOW. I’ll be here when I get a chance. Over there isn’t really a priority anymore. My Giants have won two WS rings in three years. I’ll be satisfied for a very long time, and my blogging days are numbered. It’s just not fun anymore (here it is though). Plus, I have more pressing obligations to tend to. I’m just burnt out on the whole idea…

The monkey guy is mossback, I think. Now that’s a dude I would have loved to give a wedgie to, in public, back in my rough and tumble days.. I was never a bully, I just murphed out those who deserved it.

Now someone create another thread — I’m sick of the emails every time someone posts ๐Ÿ˜‰

          • Chico says:

Hey Sandy, I didn’t see your post. I’m going to be free from Sat the 17th till Wednesday the 21st (wife is taking the kids out of town and I cant make it due to an important meeting on monday morning) – lets get together and put a few back. Gimme a ring tomorrow.

            • sandy32koufax says:

You’ll need to call me, bro.

I got a new phone and haven’t been able to access those which were not on my sim card.

        • shaman138 says:

They’re going to sign Kuroded? Hahaha!

  40. mailorderwife says:

SFDF – Send me your twitter handle! I cause most of my trouble there, where verbal diarrhea exists. I’ve even gotten into conversations with Vogelsong’s wife and spent afternoons taunting Jose Canseco.

  41. shaman138 says:

The Splash, and the rest of sfgate, is a joke. I seriously cannot believe how they keep regurgitating the Mirkarimi bullshit and even Nevius had the gall to say the local election was a huge victory for Ed Lee. But it IS funny to see how the flyover state wingnut trolls log in to their alternate “native SF moderates” accounts on the SF articles when it’s clear that their the same wingnuts posting more drivel incognito. Gahh! No more talk of SF politics!

Sandy, I’m pretty busy this weekend so no fishing for me, but I’m curious as to where this hole is here in the city. I didn’t know there was anywhere to fish in SF. We have to meet up soon for brewskis and watch some games…maybe at the Phoenix bar or Napper Tandy or somewhere like that.

    • filthychangeup says:

So again, not sure why I bother but I got my banishment overturned, here’s how VK responded:

      Hi Matthew –

The comment which got you blocked was “Let us know when you come outta
the closet, Jim,” which the moderators read as an anti-gay slur. I
unblocked you because I know it involves a commenter that you think is a
female impersonator, but please watch it.

      Vlae

What a joke, I’m the farthest thing from homophobic. I’m straight but not narrow. Seeing Prop 8 stickers makes my blood boil. What asinine moderation in defense of a known troll.

      • xoot says:

Great writer, that VK — his first “which” should’ve been “that.” Great administrator, too, reveling in soph/nineral’s trolling. Must be very amusing from his petty point of view.

The moderators’ knee-jerk reaction is typical sfgate over reaction. Glad you got reinstated.

        • Chico says:

I watched it happen late last night Filthy. Even replies to older posts by Molly were removed.. What VK said is complete BS. He needed an excuse as to why you were blocked. Why you were blocked? Someone (I’m thinking Molly) reported abuse on all of your comments and once you have so many removed, ICUC thinks you’re a trouble maker and blocks you.

What VK said was a lie to save face without having to explain to you how pathetic the moderation is over there… Like I said, I stayed up late last night and I watched it happen as post by post of yours, Yuma’s and JDR’s were removed.

I din’t know how these trolls get so many email accounts, which turn into usernames over there.. I have three email accounts.. Hotmail, gmail and yahoo…. Those are the only three free email services that I know of.. They must be using software, as I have been told by a computer dude a while ago. Stick around here more often FC, we can use a little more traffic ๐Ÿ˜‰

HOT STOVE UPDATE FOR FRIDAY @ MORNING A.M.
    — Anabelle Sanchez asking for either 6 years / $90 m or 7 years / $100 m (or something like that)
    — Rangers won’t sign Josh Hamilton for more than 3 years.
    — BoSox interested in Joakim Soria.
    — Dodgers are set to trade some multi-purpose players. Also will offer A-Rod a lucrative contract. (Okay, I made the A-Rod one up).

    SF GIANTS
    — Many teams are looking at Brandon Belt. Our team says NO.
    — Boston Red Sox told no on our Timmy. Our boy is also being asked to help represent the Philippines at the WBC.

    • xoot says:

Keep Lincecum, and for gods sake keep him out of the WBC and on a focused return to ST and Aceman status. (Remember how the WBC screwed J.Sanchez up?)

      • sandy32koufax says:

Let him represent the Island nation.

Have you ever smoked the local grasses from the southern reaches of the land of the Pinoy?

        WOW!

      • xoot says:

I can’t say that I have smoked Filipino dope. I did take a couple of business trips there. Both times friendly officers at the airport gave me a little 3 x 5 card that essentially summarized this local law:

Section 11. Possession of Dangerous Drugs. – The penalty of life imprisonment to death and a fine ranging from Five hundred thousand pesos (P500,000.00) to Ten million pesos (P10,000,000.00) shall be imposed upon any person, who, unless authorized by law, shall possess any dangerous drug in the following quantities, regardless of the degree of purity thereof:
        (1) (2) (3) (4) 10 grams or more of opium, morphine, heroin, or cocaine;
        (5) 50 grams or more of methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu”;
        (6) 10 grams or more of marijuana resin or marijuana resin oil;
        (7) 500 grams or more of marijuana; and
        (8) 10 grams or more of other dangerous drugs such as, but not limited to, . . . (MDA) or “ecstasy”, . . . (PMA), . . .(TMA), . . . (LSD), . . . (GHB), . . .
Otherwise, if the quantity involved is less than the foregoing quantities, the penalties shall be graduated as follows: [life but with lower fines, 20 years, 12 years, depending on amount]

The 12 year sentence applies to possession of any marijuana in an amount less than 300 grams. (500 grams is about a pound.)

        • shaman138 says:

Yeah, if I ever go there, I’ll just stick with beer. ๐Ÿ˜€

          • mailorderwife says:

I heard the PI version of San Miguel is pretty potent! There ya go, Shaman :>

            • sandy32koufax says:

Xoot: I was on a sugar plantation during most of my only visit to PI. No one worked in your field of endeavor either. We were unaware of the penalties for any possession or usage, though. Unless those laws and sentences have been repealed, I won’t be using in PI again. OTH, I’m pretty sure a Lincecum gets a pass on getting stoned.

shaman n mow, it IS a potent brew but then beer, ale, etc outside of the US is, generally speaking, more “potent.”

  43. unca_chuck says:

Ned Coletti is going to spend his way to the unemployment line.

Yes Shaman, there several places to fish either in SF or it’s coasts that are clean and productive. Look for a message FROM me to your inbox at your sfgate profile.

Pitchers break…as Pedro Cerrano would say “Oh, joo guys…”

  45. sandy32koufax says:

By the by, Dowders…David Patraeus has resigned.

The stated reason for his departure being an extra-marital affair.

The underlying question which spouted immediately from the right wing? What does this have to do with Benghazi?

HOT STOVE UPDATE FOR FRIDAY @ AFTERNOON P.M.

    — GIants look to be offering a 3 year deal to Jeremy Affeldt.

  47. shaman138 says:

Not a terrible deal for a team that’s built around pitching…but Affeldt can be inconsistent at times. 3 yrs. seems a bit high… We’ll see.

  48. Chico says:

Sandy, I don’t have your # —- My wife let my son play with my iphone and my contacts are all gone but 1, my dentist…. I will email you later and give you mine, or vise versa.

HOT STOVE UPDATE FOR FRIDAY @ EVENING P.M.

    — According to MLB Trade Rumors, teams interested in Michael Bourn include Nationals, Phillies, Reds, and Red Sox. The Dodgers are considered a very long shot.

    • xoot says:

I saw something about the Giants having some interest in Swisher. That can’t be true, unless they’re using it as leverage in negotiations with Pagan’s agent.

      • JDR says:

Swisher in left and Blanco in center is interesting if you assume that Brown is ready in a year or two, which is a rather big if. In the meantime can Blanco be the leadoff guy?

        • Chico says:

I’m sure Pagan had a better OBP than Blanco. Blanco also seems to strike out too much. Pagan also ran the bases better than Blanco = Sabes, I want Pagan back!

        • xoot says:

Well, I’m biased, but I’d prefer Pagan in CF and at leadoff. I don’t think Blanco’s enough of a threat at the plate to be a consistent leadoff hitter. That butcher-boy play of his works occasionally; not first pitch, every day. Although he does pop one once in a while. And I just don’t like Swisher — plenty of talent, but too many SOs and I don’t think his switch-hitting power would be as dangerous as Pagan’s has been.

  50. Chico says:

We gotta get Lance Young to come over here. . . A knowledgeable (the guy can remember specific things about a baseball game back in 1974), and he just comes across as a great guy. By looking at his FB page, this man is full of life. He’d be a great addition here.

  51. mailorderwife says:

HOT STOVE UPDATE FOR SATURDAY @ MORNING A.M.

    — Dodgers ;may be the winning bidders for Ryu Hyun-Jin. They are also aggressively pursuing Torii Hunter plus Zack Greinke or Anabelle Sanchez. (With the money they’re throwing around, they will become the Karl Rove of baseball if they don’t win it all next year.)
    — David Ross signs with the BoSox for 2 years / $6 mil.

  52. shaman138 says:

After the first two possessions, does anyone else agree that Cal looks like a HS team playing a NFL team? Maybe things will improve. And maybe Oregon won’t score 60.

    • sandy32koufax says:

Hey, it’s 7 all w/5:47 to go in the 1st.

I’d say Cal is doing great no matter what they look like.

Fresno up7-0 in the 1st but Nevada is at mid-field. I feel good about Fresburgs chances tonight, Go ‘Dogs!

    • xoot says:

Well, Cal has bounced back in the first half. Oregon’s exhausting no-huddle onslaught got disrupted by injuries, and Cal has played pretty well.

      • sandy32koufax says:

Good news for Cal fans! 24-10 though at half, are they going to catch up?

fresno and NV are playing each other evenly-this game is going to be a shootout!

  54. sandy32koufax says:

On a bright note for local football teams…Stanford and SJS won as did Terra Nova, SI and Wilcox, sorry mow but Washington lost to Mission 42-10 Friday night. Cal still has a shot!

Fresno is starting to make a laugher of it @44-21 3rd quarter…

  55. xoot says:

“And maybe Oregon wonโ€™t score 60,” I wrote. I still hope. Come on, Cal.

  56. sandy32koufax says:

    Close enough, xoot.

7 TD passes and 575 yards of total offense, 395 passing. Ya, Tedford is toast.

  57. sandy32koufax says:

Happy Veteran’s Day to all that or are serving in our armed forces!

Looks as if Oregon becomes #1 in BCS and already has clinched the PAC 12 North.

Has anyone else been watching “The Pacific” on HBO? Thoughts?

  58. mailorderwife says:

HOT STOVE SUNDAY – A.M. EDITION
    Happy Veterans Day!

    — DBags determine that Rangers are best trading partners for unloading Justin Upton. Who knew?
    — Top priority for the Nats is to re-sign Adam LaRoach
    — Indians seem to want to trade Shin-Shoo Choo, their popular S. Korean star who was featured as a disco bobblehead. With free agency a year away, teams who want Choo are reluctant to trade.
    — If the Dodgers trade Ethier, expect them to make a play for Josh Hamilton.
    — Andres Torres should be back with the Mets next year, but the team is pondering whether to tender arbitration or not.

    SF GIANTS

    — Emmanuel “Called Strike Three” Burris opts for free agency.

    • xoot says:

Josh Hamilton and Matt Kemp both playing CF? That’ll be hilarious. The old Chavez Rapine isn’t big enough to contain the egos of their OF, SS and 1B combined. It’ll explode.

    • JDR says:

These would make excellent blog posts, why don’t you start doing weekly hot stove updates?

      • mailorderwife says:

Weekly seems dated. These daily ones are baker fresh! Just trying to bring refugee traffic here.

        • xoot says:

Well, they’re still excellent blog posts. Maybe you can start a thread and then update it? I like the way you bypass the chaff and chatter and get right to what’s interesting.

  59. Chico says:

Sandy, the pacific was awesome. Band of brothers, too. Cal hung in there for a bit, but then kerplunk. Lambs leading the Niners 7-0. Let’s not lay an egg today niners

    • xoot says:

      Niners sure look flat today.

    • shaman138 says:

Cal sure looked better than the Raiders, that’s for sure. Oakland has just given up and probably won’t win another game. As long as Rolando McCancer is on that defense, they’re doomed. Officially the worst team in football and the laughing-stock of the league for the umpteenth year in a row, and chances are this may never change. And the 9ers look like zombies today–that bye week after they started clicking and picking up momentum in AZ couldn’t have come at a worse time. That being said…….

      …..God, I hate being a Raiders fan.

      • sandy32koufax says:

I DVR’d the whole thing and will watch part 10 this evening. It IS very good. My ex-father in-law was a great guy, 1st Marines and an island hopper during the war. He died a few years ago but I know he both despised and loved “Saving Private Ryan” and “Band of Brothers,” for obvious reasons.

Niners aren’t looking so flat in the 4th qtr, just took the lead with 8:30 to play…damn Rams.

Damn Ray-duhs too…well shaman, at least we aren’t Romney fans

  60. JDR says:

Kaepernick is looking very much like a young QB thrown into the fire, but the Niners are still in it. Assist goes to the kickers, who have both displayed some fine examples of the derps. Let’s hope the kid can get another 20 yards and Akers can redeem himself.

  61. unca_chuck says:

CLose but not quite. The defense is showing signs of suckage. Jackson and his stunt double san all over the Niner D.
